I really enjoyed the Yes Men Fix the World movie. I was not sure what to expect at first going into it, I didn't really know who the Yes Men were before I saw this movie. I really enjoyed they intro to the movie, I thought it was a clever way to start the movie outby jumping and swimming around in that water and introducing themselves. I also like how when the movie started it was almost like they were telling a story about themselves.I had never heard of the disaster in Bhopal before I saw this movie like most people I was shocked that something so devistating was not widley known. When they did the prank on Dow and used the idea of skeletons in the closet I thought that was brilliant because they used the golden skeleton by making fun of the fact that Dow was hidding this horrible thing and not doing a thing to help these people "skeletons in the closet" and in the end believed what they were doing was right "golden skeleton." I was shocked when at the end of their speech that people really came up to them and were intrested and believed in what the Yes Men were "selling." Just goes to show how bad and uncaring people really are. I was worried though that the people of Bhopal were going to be really angry with the Yes Men and I thought it was a little messed up how they gave these poor people false hope, but when they went to meet the people of Bhopal and they were happy and not mad at them and believed that what they did was good because it showed the Dow people how cruel they really are and what devistation the explotion has caused and still causes today. When the Yes Men asked the man from Bhopal if he was angry with them the man said no and that he appreciated it because it was a big slap in the face to the Dow people. That part made me really happy to see those people get some kind of recognition for what they have been through.
When they did the prank for the HUD in New Orleans was really great too, when they went to the ceremony of cutting the ribbon and the woman and all those people found out it was a prank and still were just so happy that they got recognition that these people were not doing what they said they were going to do I was thrilled. The woman who danced around and told everyone she was going to have a BBQ was great. It just goes to show what a little HOPE can do for so many people.
I enjoyed the news papers too, what a wonderful world it would be if one day we woke up and there was the newspaper that said the economy was fixed, the war has ended and our troops were coming home. I wish every day for that to happen and even though the papers were fake I believe it was a good thing to do because it sent out a message of hope for a lot of people. I believe that if you have hope you are nobodys prisoner and that is what I believe the Yes Men do for a lot of people.
I loved the jokes in the movie to where they interviewed those guys and had the backgrounds. I also liked how Andrew disgused himself, they were only suddle changes but they were enough that people never recognized him.
Overall I loved the movie and I want to get their other movie and watch it. I believe what they do as artist is amazing and the hope they give to people is great.
